Grapefruit-Chilli Margarita

Margaritas are my favourite summer cocktail. I love that they are refreshingly citrusy. This summer in Ibiza I came up with a nice twist: A Grapefruit-Chilli Margarita and it is absolutely delicious. The grapefruit adds subtle bitterness and the chilli adds the extra oomph!

Ingredients
Serves 2

  • 6 cl white tequila

  • Juice of 1 lime (about 5cl)

  • 4 cl Cointreau (or Triple Sec)

  • 2 cl grapefruit juice

  • 2 slices of grapefruit

  • chilli flakes

  • salt

  • ice

Method

  1. Sprinkle some salt and chilli flakes on a small plate.

  2. Run a slice of lime around the rim of 2 glasses, then dip them into the salt and chilli flakes until the rim is covered.

  3. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.

  4. Add 6 cl white tequila, the juice of 1 lime, 4 cl Cointreau and 2 cl grapefruit juice. Shake well for 30 seconds.

  5. Divide the margarita between the two glasses and garnish each with one grapefruit slice.
